I had the pleasure of interviewing the first guy for my blog, and of course I had to choose someone I've known for a while. This New Prague, Minn. native is definitely not a small town, catholic school kid anymore, but better known as, "Call Me Karizma," by his large fan following. From what sparks his lyrics, to where he created his first song, and even a little on who his dream girl might be, click the "read more" link below to meet the blonde haired, big-hearted music artist, Call Me Karizma.
•Age and where you’re from?:
"I am 20-years-old from a small town called New Prague in Minnesota."
•Let’s just dive right in with a tough question; what’s the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?:
"Hmm. Let’s see, honestly I feel like my whole life is on the fly so I do a lot of embarrassing things. But I am so used to it that it’s whatever at this point."
•Your dream girl is…?:
"An artsy girl who isn’t afraid to be sad with me and share her feelings. Sharing feelings is the most important thing to me in a relationship."
•Okay, let’s get back on a track, where does the name Karizma come from?:
"I played an open mic show in high school and I didn’t have a set stage name. After I got off stage a guy complimented my set and said I have “charisma.” I went home, googled what charisma meant, and spelled it like a corny rapper would; Karizma"
•How long have you considered yourself a performer?:
"I would say since about junior year in high school. But after touring the country with Mod Sun in the spring of 2015, I became 100 percent comfortable on stage."
•Where did you write your very first song?:
"In 6th grade with my friend Sam. I remember it vividly!"
•Who’s the coolest person you’ve gotten to perform with?:
"I have opened for super big artists like Wiz Khalifa. But actually shared the stage with, I would have to say Max Schneider. An amazing performer and an even better human being."
•Wait, where are you even living now?:
"I am currently living on a tour bus. I actually haven’t been home to Minnesota since August 16th. Its October right now, and besides the show I play on tour, I wont be home for at least another month! But I wouldn’t trade the life on the road for anything."
•What are you currently working on/doing?:
"I am currently writing my next album while on tour. I would say I have about 1/3 of what I want done with it. When I get home in November, I will start to record and have it done before the New Year!"
•Any hopes and dreams for the next five years?:
"Honestly, I am living my dream. In five years if I could be touring the world with my friends, rocking out on stages for thousands of kids, that would be the next phase of my dream."
•What advice do you want to give to all those out there aspiring to do big things like you?:
"The only person stopping yourself from achieving anything in life, is you. Cliché or not, it’s true. I came from a town of 7,500 people and I chose that I didn’t want to live a small town life. Whatever you want in life just go for it. Too many people wait around for acceptance from others, but by then it is too late and their chance is over. You only live once, stop waiting and start doing what you love!"
Love yall,
Kariz
