Vitamins, minerals, supplements; oh my!
I was always a bit skeptical about the idea that vitamins and supplements actually bettered your health. I kind of always thought, “why is this one little pill going to do anything for me?”
Well, I was completely wrong.
Adding supplements into my regular routine has been life changing! I can’t even begin to say how necessary it is to spend $20-$30 in the vitamin and body care section at the store on a regular basis. If it wasn’t for all the items I listed below, I would not have been as healthy and happy as I am now.
Probiotics:
The idea of probiotics really grossed me out before I tried them. When I finally got my hands on some, I began taking them daily. In all honesty, the only difference I saw for the first month was that I was going to the bathroom more regularly, but when I got into that second month, I began not only feeling “lighter” but leaning out a bit because my bloating was disappearing. These guys are KEY!!!
Flora Udo’s Choice Super 8 Hi-Potency Probiotic. These are magical. Nothing too harsh but it gets the job done!
Garden of Life Fitbiotics. These are great for people always on the go. They are small packets that you just dump into a water bottle – super convenient!
Vibrant Health Vibrant Flora. If you’re looking for something a bit more powerful, this stuff is it! I would advise that this is not something I would take on a daily basis if you have a sensitive stomach – it's powerful!
To make this definition as simple as possible, activated charcoal grabs all the toxins and chemicals in your body and traps them in its pores! Although the charcoal doesn’t fully absorb the toxins, it helps your body get rid of them. I like taking this at the end of the day to sort of “cleanse” my body. It’s also great right before you go to bed and wake up after a night of hittin’ the town!
Country Life Activated Charcoal. Super potent and works almost instantly.
Coconutz Activated Coconut Charcoal. Not as potent as the Country Life brand, but definitely work!
There’s nothing more I can say about multivitamins other than it’s essential to take one (men and women both, no matter your age)!
Gaia Well Being for Women. This little guy helps with inflammation, immune support, stress management and women’s health. I love taking this right when I wake up in the morning!
Garden of Life Organic Plan Collagen Builder. This is like “next level biotin.” This is honestly the holy grail if you’re looking to have healthy hair, skin and nails.
MegaFood Turmeric Strength for Liver. Turmeric is such a weird spice/supplement but its awesome for liver health and inflammation. I’ve tried other brands, but this is my favorite!
Okay, not a fan of “weightloss drugs” or anything that surpresses my body too much, but sometimes it’s totally okay to throw in some added help when you know you’ll be consuming a lot of carbs or “not so happy” food (for me it's anything with gluten and dairy in it)!
Irwin Naturals System Six. This product offers six benefits: thermogenesis; energy; mood support; metabolism boosting; carbohydrate support; and antioxidants. I usually only break this one out over holidays or weekends (both times when I know I am not so careful about what I eat or drink).
In the last seven months, I can attribute a lot of my gut health to the above pills and powders and have only seen positive changes from continuing to take them!
If you have any questions on supplements, vitamins or specific brands, I can send through suggestions!
Again, DISCLAIMER, I am not a doctor whatsoever! :)
